The inaugural annual conference of the Forum for Cities in Transition will take place in Mitrovica, from 24-28 May 2010.

In April 2009, at a conference held at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and where the Forum for Cities in Transition was established, the delegates from Mitrovica volunteered to host the first annual conference. They are living up to their promise.

The attending cities will be from the founding cities: Derry/Londonderry and Belfast (Northern Ireland); Nicosia (Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot communities); Kirkuk (Iraq), and of course the host city -- Mitrovicë/Kosovska Mitrovica.

Other cities that will send delegations are: Beirut, Jerusalem, Haifa, and Mostar.

This conference has all the promise of being a unique occasion -- cities and regions with special problems that they share in common gathering in one city of their own kind, to experience from the ground up how that city functions, deals with its special problems, and fosters co existence among divided and separate communities.
